Districts 1, 2, 4 and At-large
Who is Eligible to Run?
Board members must maintain their principal business office in the district from which they are elected. If you are a private bar attorney member you may run for the District 1 seat, the District 2 seat, or the District 4 seat (see board district map). Any private bar attorney member from any district may run for the At-large position. (District 3, 5 and 6 seats are elected in odd years. See the OCDLA by-laws for more information.)
Nominations / Deadline
You may nominate yourself or others. You may nominate more than one person. Please ensure that anyone you nominate is willing to serve. Email your nomination(s) as soon as possible and by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 to OCDLA Executive Director Shaun McCrea, firstname.lastname@example.org, or call Shaun at (541) 686-8716 by same.
Candidate Statement & Photo
Submit a 500-word candidate statement and photo as soon as possible and by 5:00 p.m. Thursday, May 14, and we will post them online. Statements will be included in the online Survey Monkey ballot.
Subjects to consider for your candidate statement: why you wish to serve on the OCDLA board, relevant board experience, fundraising experience, articles or writings published relating to substantive or procedural criminal or juvenile law, speaking engagements relating to substantive or procedural criminal or juvenile law, how you think OCDLA could better serve its members.
All private bar attorney members are eligible to vote. Voting will begin on Friday, May 15 using an online ballot (Survey Monkey). Voting will conclude at approximately 12:35 p.m. on Friday, May 22, which is day two of the streamed Annual Conference Essential Essence.
If you are a private bar member of OCDLA you will receive a link to the Survey Monkey ballot on Friday, May 15 via email.
Business Meeting: May 22, 12:10 – 12:25 p.m. (streamed)
Candidates will make short candidate statements during the business meeting before voting closes at approximately 12:35 p.m. Watch the May 22 Business Meeting via Zoom.
New Board Members
New board members will be announced on May 22 after voting closes.
Officers are elected at the first board meeting held after the May 22 election.
