March 2, 2008 through March 7, 2008
Se Habla…La Paz Spanish Language School
La Paz, Baja California South, Mexico
Informational Flier.
The week will be full of classes, lectures and site visits — an intense learning experience! The program is designed with a dual purpose: to help defense lawyers improve Spanish language skills needed to communicate with Hispanic clients and to better understand the distinctions between the Mexican and American justice systems and the expectations Mexican clients have when they are involved in the American justice system.
Every morning there will be two hours of grammar and two hours of legal presentations, both tailored to the level of Spanish proficiency of each student. Two afternoons will be filled with on-site visits to correctional facilities, courts, juvenile facilities, or similar experiences. There will be an opportunity to talk with judges, law enforcement, correctional officials, defense lawyers, prosecutors and others in the Mexican justice system.
A general orientation takes place on Sunday, March 2, 4:00–6:00 p.m., with classes running March 3 through March 7.
Enrollment is limited to 25 participants.
